Sheri Says Just Scrap It: Art Impressions Chicken Challenge

I've been thinking of making a card for my friend, whose oldest son has just gone off to university. I know it's going to be a big change for her, and I wanted to send her some love. This week's challenge over at Art Impressions stamps provided just the right inspiration.

This week, the challenge is to make a card using Chickens! Well, sadly, I don't have any of the adorable and funky AI chicken stamps, but the theme really played into the idea of "empty nest". So I pulled out an Easter Chick stamp from Close to my Heart and started to play. Here's what I came up with:

This card is a real mix of supplies. It's all Close to my Heart, but it's a mix of retired and current goodies. I love the hexagon shape and it worked well here -- especially the hexagon Irresistables that I coloured using Sunset, Honey and Olive inks. The chicken wire background is from the "Distressed Backgrounds" stamp set. And the sentiment, I found in the book "The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Word" by Linda Tourelle. I typed it out and printed it on cardstock from my computer.

But even though the supplies are a mix, the collage effect was perfect -- even better than what I had planned. I'm so happy with the final result. And I can't wait to send it off to my friend. :)
